Your files. Your device.
YOUR FILES. YOUR DEVICE.

A simpler way
to change formats.

Localfile is a collection of useful file tools with one principle: converting a file shouldn’t mean handing it over.

Images, PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, archives, and developer utilities share the same simple workspace. Pick your files, choose a supported action, and save the result. No account and no subscription.

Useful beats universal promises.

Not every file can become every other file. We only expose implemented conversions, and label experimental tools. Layout-preserving PDF to Word, legacy DOC, ODT conversion, slide rendering, OCR, TIFF input, 7Z, and encrypted PDF editing are currently unsupported. Audio and video are outside our scope.

Built to work on your device.

Browser APIs and open-source libraries handle conversion locally. Heavy PDF editing, archive processing, and spreadsheet parsing run in background workers. File size depends on available memory; conservative safety budgets protect your browser.

Open-source foundations

Localfile uses pdf-lib, PDF.js, SheetJS, fflate, Mammoth, docx, DOMPurify, Marked, Turndown, YAML, and fast-xml-parser. Their licenses and dependency versions are included with the source project.
