Do my files ever leave my device?
No. Conversion runs in your browser. We serve the website and its code, but your selected files are never sent to a conversion server.
Is there a file size limit?
File size limits depend on your device and browser. Large files can use significant memory. We show warnings and use conservative safety limits for archives and rendered images to protect your browser.
Is Localfile free?
Yes. All available tools are free, with no account, email, or signup required.
Can every file be converted to every format?
No. We only offer compatible conversions. Complex Office layouts, scanned PDF text recognition, legacy DOC, audio, video, and encrypted PDF editing are not supported. Experimental print tools clearly disclose their limitations.
Can I use it offline?
Tools you have already loaded can work offline when your browser has cached their code. Open the tools you need while connected first. Offline availability depends on your browser and cache.
